Apple issue official workaround for broken iOS 8.0.1 update

Apple may have already pulled out an update it should never have pushed in the first place, but if you're one of the unlucky ones to get it, it's not the end of the world just yet. Even if you didn't make a backup as we advised before upgrading to iOS 8, there is still some hope with this band aid procedure from Apple.

The process is relatively easy, compared to the heart and head ache that the update caused. Users are first advised to make a backup of their current system, which is always a good idea for these kinds of procedures. Then you will have to download the correct firmware (IPSW file) for your device, whether it be an iPhone 6 or an iPhone 6 Plus. All that's left then is manually restoring iOS 8 on the iPhone via iTunes' Check for Update function.

It is quite ironic that an iOS update that is meant to fix many issues with the initial iOS 8 release, which includes fixing unexpected cellular data when receiving SMS or MMS messages, would actually cause users to completely lose all ability to connect to 3G and LTE networks. Apple was quick to pull out the update but not before it has been able to do its damage. Unfortunately, this seems to be just the latest of the growing number of complaints about Apple's latest iOS release that seems to be filling up the Internet.

Apple's support page notes that the iOS 8 Health app will stop working once the iPhones have been returned to their pristine iOS 8 state. Again, quite ironic since the 8.0.1 update supposedly fixed a bug that prevented HealthKit apps from appearing in the App Store. That said, the company does promises that all these issues, plus the issues that update 8.0.1 were supposed to address, will be fixed in update 8.0.2, coming soon and hopefully without further event.
