Apex Legends update releases Havoc Energy Rifle today

Apex Legends has enjoyed a pretty meteoric rise, but now that it's been out for a couple of weeks, it's time to talk new content. Respawn has revealed that Apex Legends is getting a new weapon today, which will be the first post-launch item to go live. The weapon is called the Havoc Energy Rifle, and it seems like it could very well be a beast.

Though Respawn was initially a little vague when it came to when Havoc would actually be available in the game, it seems to be available now. To coincide with its release, EA has put together a little sizzle reel that covers the Havoc's capabilities, which you can view embedded below.

The Havoc is a fully automatic weapon that uses energy ammo. There's a bit of a charge up delay when you initially begin firing Havoc, but that delay can be removed by equipping it with a Turbocharger hop-up. If you find a Selectfire Receiver, you can equip that as well to change the Havoc's fire mode to a hitscan beam.

EA and Respawn say that the Havoc is one of Apex Legends' highest damage-per-shot weapons when used in auto fire mode, and that it's the only weapon with hitscan capabilities. It's also the only weapon that can use two different hop-ups, so you'll definitely want to check one of these out if you get the chance.

Apex Legends is a game that has found a lot of success, and now all eyes are on it to see if it can keep this momentum up. A lot of people are wondering if Apex Legends will be able to go the distance against Fortnite, which has dominated battle royale for more than a year now, and frequent content updates like this one will certainly help it meet that goal. The Havoc Energy Rifle should be in the game now, so drop in and see if you can find one.
