Android security ramps up with L

At Google I/O 2014, Android and Chrome boss Sundar Pichai went right up front with Android Security upgrades. Google's next step in Android security in Android L is to push security patches through Google Play instead of Android updates – making the whole process more secure and reliable.

The next Android version will have more malware protection and will have a full factory reset protection for remote wipes. This means that all Android devices – once they have Android version L, will have the ability to be wiped out remotely. This protection has been allowed with some 3rd party services before, but Google is now bringing the system to the baseline.

Google will also be bringing in Universal Data Controls to Android L. This will be a single place where adjustments will be able to be made to all privacy settings for all apps inside Android. Users will be able to access Universal Data Controls in their settings menu later this year.
