Android gets desktop OS makeover by ThunderSoft [Video]

Developer ThunderSoft have released a video demonstrating their latest custom software build, a version of Android for netbook computers.  Their demo shows multi-window support, with both a title bar and cursor, together with support for display resolutions up to 1280 x 720 and the ability to drag, drop and maximize windows.Video demo after the cut

Various manufacturers and OEMs have discussed using Google's open-source platform on netbooks and notebooks, but in its standard form the OS is distinctly designed for smartphone-scale devices.  Rather than the 10-inch or larger display popular on netbooks currently, Android is more suited to the roughly 3.2-inch panel used on mobile phones.

What makes this particularly interesting is that ThunderSoft have a history of developing software platforms for low-power and mobile chipsets, such as Qualcomm's Snapdragon.  Rather than a speculative build, then, their version of Android stands a decent chance of actually making it to a real device; that is, unless Google Chrome OS comes along and whips the rug out from under Android's netbook plans.
