AMD Fusion is Here, Bringing Better Performance and Battery Life For Notebooks

AMD has announced the availability of two new chips that will fall into its Brazos platform for lightweight notebooks. Consisting of the Zacate, and Ontario, these chips promise both better performance and battery life and come in single and dual-core configurations.

The first in the E-series known as the E-350 comes in as a dual-core 1.6GHz chip that boasts an idle time of 11 hours. The E-240 is the single core 1.5GHz variant of the Zacate series. Both of these chips are designed to work with 18 watts of power and will be found in notebooks, all-in-one systems, and smaller desktops.

The C-Series, also known as Ontario, will include a dual-core 1.0GHz C-50 and the C-30 which is a single-core 1.2GHz chip. Both of these chips are designed for lightweight notebooks such as netbooks.

These chips should bring a significant improvement when compared to Intel's Atom chips, but as far as powering big machines they will leave extreme users disappointed.
