Amazon is catching us by surprise today by launching a new Echo model. Say hello to Echo Look, a new device that comes with all the same functionality of a standard Echo but packs in a camera. The camera has a somewhat specific purpose, as Amazon envisions it as a way for you to make sure your fashion game is on point.

When coupled with Alexa integration, that camera allows you to take full length shots that show off your outfit. All you need to do is stand in front of the Echo Look and say "Alexa, take a picture." The camera uses a depth-sensing lens, which will let you to blur the background and ensure that your outfits "pop," as Amazon puts it.

It seems that most of the Echo Look's functionality revolves around the companion app Amazon has built for it. With this app, you can view the photos you've taken to make sure everything looks good. If you find a particular combination you like and want to remember it for later, you can add it to your Look Book, a collection of photos you've taken with your Echo Look that you can reference later.

Echo Look's functionality extends beyond snapping stills, though. If you need look at your outfit in its entirety, you can have your Echo Look record a video, allowing you to rotate in a circle to get a full look. Beyond that, you can watch a live feed of what the Echo Look sees through the companion app, skipping the recording process entirely.

This all sounds great for the fashion-minded among us, but what if you're like me and you're a bit oblivious when it comes to what's in? You can actually use a feature called Style Check to get some outside help. With Style Check, you'll submit images of two different outfits and Amazon will use "advanced machine learning algorithms and advice from fashion specialists," to suggest the outfit that will look better on you. My friends, we are truly living in the future.

Obviously, the Echo Look is capable of all the things a standard Echo can do, which means you can ask Alexa to give you the latest headlines, control your home automation systems, or play music. If you think this is the Echo for you, then good news: it's available now, though it costs a fair amount more than the standard Echo, coming in at $199.99.

What do you think of this interesting new device? Do you think Amazon's idea with the Echo Look is cool, or is it a little strange to outfit an Echo with a camera? Head down to the comments section and let us know!
