It's been about eight months since Amazon Prime Reading launched in the US, and now it's the UK's turn to get in on the action. Prime Reading, for those who aren't familiar with it, gives users a rotating selection of books and magazines to read. The best part is that, like Prime Video, it's included in your Prime subscription, so you won't have to pay anything extra for it.

Like in the US, Prime Reading is launching with a selection of around 1,000 books and magazines. Some of the available titles will change as time goes on, but for now, Prime Reading is launching with books like Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, The Fishermen, The Bourne Enigma, and Slaughterhouse-Five. Magazines that will be available include Glamour, Red, BBC Gardeners' World, and The Week.

Books and magazines aren't the only thing that Prime Reading gets you. Comics like Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy are available, as are short stories and essays that are offered under the Kindle Singles banner. Amazon doesn't say how often titles will rotate out of Prime Reading, which suggests that it may be up to the author or publishing house.

You can read the books you obtain through Prime Reading on a multitude of platforms since you'll be using the Kindle app. This means you can take advantage of your subscription on iOS, Android, PC, or Amazon's own Fire tablets. Of course, if you have an actual Kindle, you'll be able to read your books and magazines on that too.

While it's hard to imagine that you'd run out of content with 1,000 books and magazines to peruse, there is another option in Kindle Unlimited if you think Prime's offerings won't be enough. Of course, Kindle Unlimited requires an additional fee each month, so Prime Reading is probably the best value for those already paying for Prime.
