Amazon opens Kindle Digital Text platform to world

The Amazon Kindle line of eReaders are very popular and are credited with helping to start the eReader boom. One of the keys to the success of the Kindle is the robust digital bookstore that Amazon runs. Amazon has now announced that it is expanding its Kindle Digital Text program to publishers around the world.Amazon is now allowing works to be submitted from publishers around the world rather than limiting the program to the US only. Publishers can submit texts in English, German, or French languages. Amazon reports that it will add support for more languages in the coming months.

The Kindle Digital Text program is sort of like a self-publishing route for the Kindle digital bookstore. "We are excited to make the self-service Kindle Digital Text Platform available to authors and publishers around the world," said Russ Grandinetti, Vice President, Kindle Content. "Now any content owner can offer English, German or French-language books to the fast-growing audience of Kindle owners around the globe."
