The Kindle Oasis continues to be Amazon's newest flagship e-reader, with impressive features like waterproofing and a large, sharp display. But now the company has revealed that one of the device's best features is coming to the bottom of the Kindle line-up. The cheapest Kindle model will soon be updated with support for audiobooks from Audible.

Amazon recently updated its product page for the Kindle, noting that an over-the-air-update will be released "in the coming months" to add audiobook functionality. Like the Kindle Oasis, however, the lack of speakers or a headphone jack means users will need to pair the reader with bluetooth headphones or speakers to enjoy an audiobook.

Audible is actually owned by Amazon, so it makes sense that the company would integrate its audiobook service with its popular e-readers, allowing users to purchase books in their preferred format. New Audible customers can sign up for the service's free trial and get two audiobooks on the house.

Unfortunately for Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Voyage owners, there's no word on the Audible support update coming to the mid-range e-readers. It's possible the feature could be coming to these devices down the road, but there's currently no mention of it on the product page.
