Amazon has announced that its limited Good Omens series will be available to stream starting on May 31. The show is an adaption of the Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett fantasy novel by the same name. In addition to announcing its premiere date, it was also revealed that British actor Benedict Cumberbatch has joined the cast in the role of Satan.

Cumberbatch's presence in the series was revealed by Gaiman during a Television Critics Association panel. The Sherlock actor will only make an appearance as character Satan in the show's Episode 6, the last in the six-part mini series. He'll be contrasted with Frances McDormand who plays the voice of God.

The adaption is based on "Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch," a comedy novel revolving around the end times. Though the book was published in 1990, Amazon's take on the story will happen in the year 2018, with Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant as the demon Crowley.

The mini series is being created by BBC Studios with production company Narrativia, and it'll be available only on Amazon Prime Video. Gaiman himself is serving as showrunner and is behind the scripts for the entire series. According to Gaiman, Cumberbatch will be seen as a 400ft high "giant, animated Satan."

Amazon already has a show page for the series live on Prime Video, where viewers can watch a trailer for the upcoming show. The video includes concept art, some shots from production, images of the two authors, commentary from the actors, and more. Good Omens will be free for Prime customers.
