Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio packs 510hp 2.9L Bi-turbo V6

Alfa Romeo has announced that it has launched its new high-end performance SUV called the Stelvio Quadrifoglio in Asia at Auto China 2018. The new performance SUV is the first to wear the Quadrifoglio badge and is a benchmark in the SUV market. This is the SUV that Alfa used to crush the class record for fastest lap at the Nürburgring.

The lap time around that world-famous track was 7 minutes and 51.7 seconds. Power for the Stelvio Quadrifoglio is from a 2.9L Bi-turbo V6 engine that makes 510hp (rated for 505hp in the US) and 600Nm torque. That engine was developed with input from Ferrari.

Power goes through an 8-speed transmission with special calibrations to allow gear shifts in 150 milliseconds in Race driving mode. Paddle shifters inside the car are integrated into the steering column.

Alfa says that the SUV can reach 100 km/h in 3.8 (0-60mph in 3.6 seconds) seconds and has a top speed of 283 km/h (176mph). The engine has cylinder deactivation tech to improve fuel economy and has a sailing function in Advanced Efficiency driving mode.

Power reaches the ground via an all-wheel-drive system with Alfa Active Torque Vectoring as standard. Alfa Active Suspension is also standard. Standard brakes are the Alfa Integrated Brake System and Brembo Carbon-ceramic discs are an option. Pricing is unannounced at this time.
