Activision Top Shot Elite Controller Passes Through the FCC

There's plenty of video game controllers shaped like a gun, which are all designed to help the player experience their favorite First Person Shooter (FPS) title in a whole new way. With Activision's Top Shot Elite Controller, which recently passed through the FCC, they're making sure that you have plenty of options console wise to pick up the accessory.

The Top Shot Elite controller doesn't rely on one way for players to interact with their game. Instead, the new accessory relies on a sensor bar and a high-sensitivity camera to make sure that all of your movements are accurately translated on the screen. You'll find an analog stick near the end of the barrel, as well as on the back of the plastic gun's grip, which should help with movement in some capacity or another. Though, looking at the gun, and it may not be all that comfortable to use. As for reloading, you'll do that with the pump-action reload mechanism, which simulates a shotgun.

The scope on the top of the fake weapon features a red lens, which Activision says will "give players a different perspective on the environment." No details as to what that could mean, yet. Interestingly enough, this accessory isn't meant for a high-profile Activision title. Instead, the company will be releasing the Top Shot Elite controller with Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011. In fact, there's no word on whether or not the Top Shot Elite will work with other video games. As for a release date, it's expected to land in retail stores some time this Fall, but pricing hasn't been divulged. You'll be able to pick up the game and controller for either your Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Wii.
