Acer F900 3G smartphone hits UK

Acer's F900 smartphone – first announced back at Mobile World Congress in February – has finally launched.  Offering Windows Mobile 6.1, the F900 has a 3.8-inch WVGA touchscreen, HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity and Acer's new 2.0 User Interface on top of the Microsoft OS.

The F900 is shipped with Internet Explorer 6 with Adobe Flash Lite support, together with Acer's Easy Keyboard.  There's also a YouTube app, Google Maps and GPS.  Around the back, there's a 3-megapixel camera.

The Acer F900 is now available in the UK, unlocked, at £429 ($709).  No word on whether Acer will be offering upgrades to Windows Mobile 6.5 once the new OS reaches the market, but the fact that the F900 has a Windows-logo key (a feature of WM6.5 devices) rather than the traditional Home icon does suggest that owners will be able to update.
