Acer debuts new Aspire Ethos 5951 G and 8951G notebooks

Acer has announced a pair of new notebook computers for the Ethos line. The new machines are the Aspire Ethos 8951G and the Aspire Ethos 5951G. Both of the new notebooks are aimed at home entertainment and multimedia use. Both of the machines have a cool detachable track pad that will work as a multimedia control. The Ethos 5951G is a 15.6-inch machine with a resolution of 1366 x 768 and it uses a frameless super slim design. Acer debuted other notebooks in the Ethos line previously.

The notebook can be fitted with Intel Core i3 to i7 processors up to the Core i7-2630QM. It supports up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM and can be fitted with NVIDIA GPUs including the GT 555M or the GT 540M. Storage is up to 750GB and the machine can be fitted with a Blu-ray drive, Blu-ray burner, or standard DVD burner. The notebook measures 15" x 10.6" x 0.99 ~ 1.18" and weighs 7.27lbs.

The Ethos 8951G can be fitted with Core i3, i5, or i7 processors up to the i7-2820M. It sports a giant 18.4-inch LCD with full HD resolution and the same frameless design as the other Ethos machine. It can be fitted with the same NVIDIA GT 555M or GT 540M processors. Storage is up to 750GB and the notebook supports up to 16GB of RAM. This machine can also be fitted with Blu-ray or standard DVD drives. The larger notebook measures 17.34" x 11.62" x 1.21 ~ 1.5". Both of these notebooks will debut in the middle of June with prices starting at £999 Inc VAT.
