2020 GMC Acadia adds AT4 trim and lots of new enhancements

GMC has unveiled the 2020 Acadia SUV, and the new model brings with it a new engine, transmission, updated styling, and a new trim level. GMC notes that the Acadia has seating for five, six, or seven passengers depending on the model chosen. GMC says that the new bolder exterior gains standard LED lighting and signature GMC C-shape lighting.

The new trim level for the Acadia is the AT4, which brings more aggressive exterior styling and dark finishes. This trim gets a black chrome-accented grille and off-road-inspired design. The standard engine for the AT4 is a 3.6L V6 making 310hp and 271 lb-ft of torque with a twin-clutch AWD system, 17-inch wheels, and all-terrain tires are standard.

The Acadia SLT and Denali models get the new 2.0L turbo engine as standard. The engine has GM tripower valvetrain tech to optimize performance. The turbo engine is rated 230hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The other engine options on the Acadia is a 2.5L inline four, or the V6 mentioned already.

Acadia comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission aimed at performance and efficiency. SLT, AT4, and Denali models all get standard hands-free power liftgate with a GMC logo projector. The center console is redesigned with more storage space; a new head-up display will come to the Acadia later.

The Denali gets a new interior color scheme with open-pore wood. The transmission uses a new electronic Precision Shift system replacing the regular shifter with an electronic control to give more interior room. The 2020 Acadia gets an 8-inch diagonal infotainment screen, dual USB-C ports for charging, a new navigation interface, and more. Pricing and exact availability are unannounced.
