2020 Ford F-Series Super Duty Tremor off-road package debuts

Ford has announced an all-new off-road package that is for its 2020 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks that pairs towing and payload capacity with additional off-road capability. The Tremor package promises to give F-Series Super Duty owners a combination of weekday work and weekend adventure in the same truck. The Tremor package is available with the all-new 7.3-liter gas V8 or the 3rd gen 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel.Tremor models offer towing and payload ratings "similar to non-Tremor models." Tremor can be specified for 4x4 single-rear-wheel SuperCrew trucks with the 6.75-foot box. When added to the F-250, the high-capacity trailer tow package is required.

Upgrades with the package include a set of 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac maximum-traction tires. Ford says that these are the largest diameter tires offered on a heavy-duty truck. The tires are on a set of unique 18-inch matte-finished black wheels.

Tremor also brings a 2-inch front-end lift and shorter air-dam to give the truck 10.8-inches for ground clearance and the ability to ford up to 33 inches of water. Tremor trucks have an approach angle of 31.65-degrees and departure angles of 24.51 degrees. The suspension uses custom 1.7-inch piston twin-tube dampers with "substantial oil volume" to keep internal temperatures low.

Tremor has a locking rear differential with a new Dana limited-slip front diff that has shift-on-the-fly tech. Ford gave the Tremor truck a new rock-crawl mode optimized to operate in 4x4 low with gas versions having a 53:1 crawl ratio and the 6.7L diesel offering a 44:1 crawl ratio. Trail Control is offered on the Super Duty, and Ford says that the Tremor package will debut when the 2020 Super Duty launches later this year. It's unclear how much the package will cost at this time.
