2019 Subaru Ascent 3-row SUV gets official

Subaru has officially unveiled the all-new Ascent 3-row SUV. This is the largest of all Subaru vehicles and comes in seven or eight-passenger configurations. The seven-passenger version has second-row captain's seats with the eight-passenger version using benches in second and third rows.

Power for the big SUV comes from an all-new turbo 260hp Boxer engine. All Ascent models will come standard with EyeSight Drier Assist Technology. The Ascent can also be had with a 4G LTE hotspot. As with all Subaru vehicles, the Ascent will come standard with all-wheel drive.

If you want a Subaru that can tow a boat, RV, or motorcycles to and from the trails, the Ascent will tow up to 5,000 pounds. The Ascent uses a new version of the Subaru high-torque Lineartronic CVT transmission. The wheelbase for the Ascent is 113.8-inches and it has 153.5 cubic feet of passenger volume.

The rear doors open 75-degrees for improved access to the third row. Inside are eight USB charging ports and a 120V outlet in the rear center console. There are 19 standard cup and bottle holders with every passenger having a cup holder. Three-zone automatic climate control is standard.

Front and second row heated seats are standard and on Touring models ventilated driver and passenger seats are standard. The Ascent as 8.7-inches of ground clearance. Four trim levels are offered with base, Premium, Limited, and Touring. The Ascent will be built in Indiana and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
