2019 Lexus UX compact crossover starts at $32,000

Crossovers and SUVs are incredibly popular with vehicle buyers today with a wide range of models from just about every automaker out there. Back in March Lexus pulled the wraps off a new compact crossover called the Lexus UX. Lexus has now announced pricing on the ride along with all the details and the UX is surprisingly affordable.

Lexus and affordability don't often come in the same sentence, but the UX 200 will start at $32,000 with a UX 250h hybrid coming that will add $2,000 to the base price. Lexus is looking at the UX as an entry point to the Lexus brand for many buyers and as an entry to the luxury car segment. The UX 200 will roll into showrooms in December.

The UX 250h will follow in January 2019 carrying a starting price of $34,000. For the extra $2,000 you get some nice additions other than the hybrid tech. The 250h also comes with all-wheel drive, more power, and improved fuel economy expected from a hybrid. The UX is the first Lexus to use the Global Architecture Compact platform. That platform is tuned for handling agility, ride comfort, and driving personality.

The base UX 200 is a front-wheel drive vehicle that uses a 169hp 2.0L 4-cylinder engine paired with a 10-speed Direct Shift CVT transmission. The 250h uses a higher efficiency version of that 2.0L gas engine making 175 total system horsepower paired with a fourth-gen hybrid drive system designed just for this platform. UX buyers get LED daytime running lights along with standard single-projector, dual-beam LED headlights.

Optional ultra-small 3-projector LED headlights are available. Lexus will offer 12 exterior colors with Ultra White and Ultra Sonic Blue Mica 2.0 exclusive to the F Sport version. Two new colors are just for the UX including Cadmium Orange and Nori Green. The F Sport package will be offered on the UX 200 and UX 250h adding 18-inch wheels, and a different grille and bumper. F Sport also gets a larger 8-inch LCD inside compared to the standard 7-inch LCD. MSRPs listed here lack the $1,025 destination charge.
