2018 Ford Super Duty gets more power and torque

Ford has given up some of the specifications for the 2018 Super Duty trucks and there are gains for the 2018 model year. In fact, the gains allow Ford to grab best-in-class rankings for horsepower, torque, towing, gooseneck towing, and payload. The 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbodiesel has 450hp, a gain of 10hp compared to the previous year.

The truck also gains torque with 10 more lb-ft for 2018 bringing it to 935 lb-ft of torque. The engine under the hood gains the torque and power thanks to redesigned heads for more strength under higher loads and optimized turbo and fuel calibrations.

Ford is still offering a 6.2L gas engine and the 6.8L V10 engine, but no word on power or torque for either of those models. The diesel beast can tow 21,000 pounds and carry 7,360 pounds of payload.

For 2018 buyers can also get the F-450 Crew Cab in a 4x2 configuration dualie. That model was only offered as a 4x4 in 2017. The 2018 F-450 4x2 with dual rear wheels will launch this winter in XL, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum trims.

The base truck starts at $52,830. Automakers don't have far to go before their massive diesel engines are putting out 1,000 lb-ft of torque.
