2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe blends designs 'from two different worlds'

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe will be making an appearance at the New York International Auto Show, and ahead of that comes all the details. The GLC Coupe is "both 'hot and cool'," according to Daimler AG's design head Gorden Wagener. He says the new model "reflects our iconic Mercedes-Benz coupe design while symbolizing the diversity of our brand." The model fuses together design elements of both the SUV and coupe variety.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe will be launched in two varieties in the U.S. — the MY2017 GLC300 4MATIC Coupe and the MY2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe. Both will be available to dealers by early next year, but ahead of that comes all the details.

The coupe is decked out with a diverse and robust array of standard features, including keyless start, a review camera, sunroof, power tailgate and folding mirrors, a 7-inch color display, 9-speed transmissions, powered driver's seat with memory, Crosswind Assist, Collision Prevention Assist Plus, and more. The AMG GLC43 model adds both AMG Ride Control Sport Suspension and AMG Performance 4MATIC with a 31:69 front/rear bias into the standard-features mix.

From there, customers will be given more than a dozen optional features, including Pre-Safe Plus with read-end collision prevention, Keyless-Go, illuminated door sills, heated rear seats, HUD, 8.4-inch COMAND display/controller, MB-Tex covered dashboard, ventilated and heated front seats, hands-free access, BAS Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist, Air Body Control air suspension, and more.

Each model has its own distinctive pluses. Says Daimler, the GLC Coupe has brand-typical safety features alongside modern assistance systems, standard off-road suspension, sports steering, 4MATIC with permanent all-wheel drive with 9G-Tronic transmission and dynamic select, and "an especially sporty character." The AMG GLC43 Coupe model, meanwhile, adds "high levels of on-road performance," says the auto maker, as well as a 3L V6 Biturbo engine outputting 362hp; this particular model can hit 60MPH in under 5 seconds.
