2016 Vizio SmartCast M-Series TVs with Android remote now shipping

Vizio has announced its 2016 line of SmartCast M-Series displays for home theater fans are now shipping. The entire M-Series range features Ultra HD resolution, high dynamic range, and a fancy 6-inch tablet remote control. That remote control runs the Android operating system and has the Vizio SmartCast app integrated.

The Vizio SmartCast app has integrated Google Cast making it easy to get content from the tablet remote to the screen of the TV. The range has multiple screen sizes starting at 50-inch and going up to 80-inch sizes. The TVs all have full-array LED backlighting with up to 64 active LED zones. The top of the line 80-inch set is the M80-D3, it has a UHD upscaling engine called the Spatial Scaling Engine, and the picture processor for UHD content is the VM50 engine. The display processor is a V8 octa-core processor.

The TV has integrated 802.11ac WiFi and integrated Bluetooth LE. The tablet remote for the series is a 6-inch unit with 720p resolution and 8GB of integrated storage. It has a quad-core processor, dual stereo speakers, a microphone, and charges using a wireless dock. The 80-inch unit has five HDMI ports with one supporting 600MHz clock rate. The panel has a 240Hz effective refresh rate, 50M:1 contrast ratio, and 176-degree viewing angles.

Integrated audio is dual 10W speakers with DTS StudioSound. The 80-inch M80-D3 sells for $3,999.99. Stepping down in the range is a 7o-inch unit for $1999.99 called the M70-D3. The 65-inch M65-D0 is $1499.99, the M60-D3 60-inch is $1249.99, and the M55-D0 is $999.99 with a 55-inch screen. The least expensive TV in the 2016 M-Series range is the 50-inch M50-D1 at $849.99. ThatM50-D1 set has 32 active LED zones and four HDMI ports with one handling 600MHz pixel clock rate and 120Hz refresh rate.
