2016 Lexus GS series gains 200t RWD model

The 2016 Lexus GS series has been unveiled at Pebble Beach and the line has a new model for 2016. That new model is the GS 200t with rear-wheel drive and a 2.0L turbo engine under the hood. That GS 200t turbo four makes 241hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy for the 200t is estimated to be 33mpg on the highway.

Lexus has also updated the GS 350 with a more powerful V6 engine making 311hp and 280 lb-ft of torque mated with an eight-speed automatic. Lexus is offering a GS 450h hybrid as well using a 3.5L Atkinson cycle V6 engine mated with a water-cooled permanent magnet electric motor for 338 hp total. That hybrid is good for 29mpg city and 34mpg highway and can still reach 60mph in 5.6-secodns.

The mid-range GS 350 boasts AWD and an F Sport package is available on all three GS models with improved chassis tuning for the track and staggered tire sizes on rear-wheel drive models. F sport models can also be fitted with optional Lexus Dynamic Handling with Dynamic Rear Steering.

Safety systems include available pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, intelligent high beam, and all-speed dynamic radar cruise control. A 17 speaker Mark Levinson premium sound system is available. Pricing on the cars is unannounced at this time.
