2015 Nissan Murano reveals crossover-makeover

Nissan has taken the wraps off the 2015 Murano, launching the third-gen crossover at the New York Auto Show this week, and introducing a tweaked design language the company expects to eventually spread across the rest of its range. Bearing sharper lines, a roof described as "floating" thanks to rear glass design that hides the B-pillars back, and distinctive LED lighting, the new Murano also gets Nissan's "NASA-inspired" seats.

Dubbed Zero Gravity, they use space agency research to support the driver and passengers in more ergonomically-comfortable ways, supposedly making for a better experience on roadtrips.

Other interior features include NissanConnect, for hooking up to smartphone apps, along with an 8-inch center console multitouch display, Bose audio system with 11 speakrrs, and Bluetooth streaming. Safety kit will include blind-spot and moving object detection, emergency braking and collision spotting for perils ahead, and a new Cross Traffic Alert that uses radar to spot moving vehicles behind the Murano while you're parking.

Under the hood is a 3.5-liter DOHC V6 with a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The Xtronic transmission is standard. Four trim levels will be offered – S, SV, SL, and Platinum – with options including a powered moonroof.

The new 2015 Murano will get its official unveil on Wednesday, with the car expected to hit forecourts late in 2015.
