2015 Mercedes S-Class Coupe packs 455hp biturbo V8

Mercedes-Benz has pulled the wraps off its new S-Class Coupe. Mercedes says that the new S-Class Coupe is as exclusive as it gets and the car is packed with luxury touches without ignoring performance. The car is set to hit dealerships in the second half of 2014 and will make its official debut at the Geneva International Motor Show in March.

The S-Class Coupe is the platform that Mercedes is using to debut its new curve tilting function. The vehicle is able to lean into turns similar to a motorcycle. The leaning action helps reduce the lateral acceleration of the vehicle occupants to improve comfort.

The car is powered by a 4633cc V8 biturbo engine producing 455hp and 700 Nm of torque. The S-class Coupe also gets Magic Body Control described by Mercedes as the first suspension with eyes. The car is packed with assistance systems including PRE-SAFE brake with pedestrian detection, DISTRONIC PLUS with Steer Assist and Stop&Go Pilot.

The car also gets active lane keeping assistance, high beam assist plus, and night view assist plus. The Collision Prevention Assist Plus the will help protect the car from collision at speeds as low as 7 km/h and supports autonomous braking at speeds up to 200 km/h. The car also has a full color heads up display with a resolution of 480 x 240 giving the driver vehicle speed, speed limits, nav instructions, and system messages. Pricing for the car is unannounced at this time.
