2015 Jeep Renegade combines off-road capability with over 30mpg efficiency

Jeep is showing off its all-new Jeep Renegade, which is a completely new vehicle that marks Jeep's first entry into the small SUV market. Jeep says that the little SUV provides the best in class off-road capability with fuel efficiency. Renegade Trailhawk is the most off-road capable model featuring an Active Drive Low mode.

That Active Drive Low mode features a 20:1 crawl ratio and a Jeep Selec-Terrain system. Jeep also gives the Renegade an optional My Sky open air roof system that has a pair of large sunroof opening over the front and rear occupants. Jeep uses something it calls the small-wide 4x4 architecture with the Renegade.

That architecture is designed to give the car best in class off-road capability with world class on road driving dynamics. When equipped with the 2.4L Tigershark engine with MultiAir2 technology and a nine-speed automatic the car is good for over 30mpg on the highway. It can also be fitted with a 1.4L Multiair turbo engine and a 6-speed manual transmission.

Renegade also has the segments largest full color instrument cluster, Uconnect touchscreen radios, and Uconnect Access inside. Renegade also offers an exclusive Rock mode and it has skid plates underneath. When fitted with the 2.4L Tigershark engine the Renegade can tow 2000 pounds. The vehicle is also capable of fording up to 19-inches of water and is fitted with a hill-descent control and up to 8.1 inches of wheel articulation. Pricing and availability are unannounced.
