2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty offers 860 lb-ft of torque

Ford has officially announced some of the details of the 2015 Super Duty F-Series trucks and the specs are impressive. The new super Duty offers best in class horsepower and torque ratings. The new trucks also offer best in class towing capacity.

The Super Duty trucks feature a second-generation 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel engine that produces 440hp and a whopping 860 lb-ft of torque. When that big diesel engine is packed into the F-450 chassis and the truck is fitted with a gooseneck trailer the beast can tow 31,200 pounds.

The truck is capable of towing a fifthwheel weighing up to 26,500 pounds. The F-350 version of the truck is capable of towing a gooseneck packed with 26,500 pounds and has a combined weight rating of 35,000 pounds.

The new diesel engine in the truck has a significant bump in power and torque compared to the last version of the engine. It has an additional 40hp and 60 lb-ft of torque compared to the outgoing 6.7L Power Stroke diesel. The bump in power comes in part from placing the turbo into the engine valley to block most of the high temperatures and increase performance. Ford has been unveiling other new 2015 models with the new Focus being unveiled recently offering a tiny 1.0L EcoBoost.
