2014 Jeep Wrangler Willys Wheeler Edition unveiled

Jeep has announced a new special edition of its venerable and very popular Wrangler. The new special edition is called the Wrangler Willys Wheeler Edition and is intended to highlight the Jeep brand's Willys ties. The special edition is based on the Wrangler Sport and has a number of additional goodies to improve its off-road prowess.

The vehicle will hit Jeep showrooms early next year starting at $25,795. The official debut for the Willys Wheeler Edition will happen at the LA Auto Show this month. Upgraded hardware that the special edition gets includes a Dana 44 rear axle with Trac-Lok limited slip rear differential.

The Willys edition also gets 3.73 gears and BFG KM Mud Terrain LT255/75R17 tires. Other features include rock rails and a new Jeep Trail Rated kit including a D-Ring, tow strap, and gloves in a Jeep bag. The Jeep has Command-Trac 4x4 part-time with a two-speed transfer case.

The transfer case has a 2.72:1 low range for improved off road capability. On the outside, the Willys version gets a gloss black grille with black jeep badge, special Willys hood stickers, and gloss black 17-inch wheels. Power comes from the standard 3.6L Pentastar V6 producing 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Both two door and four door models will be available.
