Using the VMware beta for Mac, users can now connect the Zune to the Mac. You can download and transfer music back and forth from the Mac and the Zune. Although it is not officially compatible, this is great news for Mac users. I’m sure that compatibility is not limited to VMware; It probably also works in Parallels and Boot Camp.
Zune’s market share has been dismal since its start, and this new information about compatibility with Macs may not boost market share. Furthermore, the Zune has not been released in a ton of countries as of yet, including Canada. Even if it doesn’t strengthen market share of Zunes it will certainly help customers who are stuck on buying Macs, but want to buy a Zune (Ok, who am I kidding, no one wants a Zune!)
Zune-Online has more info. Zune-Online also broke the story earlier this week that involved putting Linux on the Zune, which has had a little progress now, thanks to a “Mys Videl”.

PlaylistMag had tried to use Zune with “Parallels” some time ago, but they had no success connecting it. A newer version could be OK, who knows…
I don’t know anyone who has tried it with Bootcamp, but I don’t see a reason not to play.

I have had the shuffle, nano, and 60 GB
and I feel That the Zune has Done A Great Job…….

i have an alienware pc, and a macbook, i prefer the macbook, but i have an ipod and a zune, and a nano. ipod and the nano both are frustrating, very non-user compatible, difficult, confusing, and overall break too often. Zune has not broken once, and i just want a way to connect it to my macbook without using windows, or bootcamp, or other programs like such

I Have a brown zune and it connects and syncs to my MACBOOK perfectly running Bootcamp and XP, I love the zune, and as far as calling me a fanboy for apple or microsoft, i am an APPLE tech for compusa and i usually tend to go for the underdogs.

I own a Zune. I prefer the subscription model vs. the buy everything model. As much as Zune has a bad name, I am really not sure why, I think it is a great product. I have played with plenty of iPods to know the ins and outs and at one time purchased my music from iTunes, I just simply don’t want to pay for songs that I will be sick of in a couple of months.
I also own an iMac which I love, I just wish my Zune would work with my iMac seamlessly without the need for VMware or Boot Camp. Apple crossed the line and made iTunes work on windows, I just don’t understand Microsofts reluctance to do the same.
