ZiiLABS TRINITY smartphone gets video demo

ZiiLABS' TRINITY is designed to draw the attention of smartphone lovers to the ZMS-05 platform, just like its ZiiEGG predecessor did for PMPs, and it seems to be doing a pretty good job.  Crave Asia grabbed some hands-on time with the smartphone – which is capable of 1080p HD video playback, has a 3.1-inch 800 x 480 OLED capacitive touchscreen and triband WCDMA/HSDPA connectivity – and came away reasonably impressed.Video hands-on after the cut

The screen is smaller than that of the ZiiEGG but higher resolution, and ZiiLABS say the proprietary port on the base of the reference design could easily be switched over to a mini-HDMI port and microUSB port.  It's not the slimmest handset we've seen, but given the capabilities of the ZMS-05 chip we're tending toward forgiving it.

Creative claim that a manufacturer keen to use the TRINITY platform could bring a product to market in just three months, so while we're unlikely to see the ZMS-05 on shelves in its current form, early 2010 will probably bring a few devices with similar abilities.  No word on what sort of pricing we might expect.
