We hear it in the news all the time. Only recently, we heard about a woman who threw acid on her daughter for looking at a boy, and she died from her horrific injuries. When asked about it, the woman said, her daughter was disrespecting her family by looking at the boy. What a fucked up bunch of people. You make me sick you Fucking freaks.

If it has not yet created the technology required to filter only offensive content, Pakistan apparently has to block YouTube, or risk more outbreaks of death and destruction blamed on videos – whether rightly or wrongly – and then the government will be blamed for not “doing something to prevent it”.

But the odd thing about this is that Pakistan has no shortage of technical expertise.
I am sure most slashgear regulars will have already thought of at least one way Pakistan could offer a different, more sophisticated, technological solution, so the question is, why don’t they?

Yes acid throwing attacks have happened, but not just in Pakistan. And they sure as heck are not “allowed” to do it. There strict punishments for people who do this, including get acid thrown on the perpetrator as well, or getting acid dropped into their eyes… “an eye for an eye” so to speak.

However it is unknown how often those laws are actually enforced…

Despite what you think, this isn’t about religion… and it definitely isn’t about Christianity vs Islam (besides, who told you that the USA is a Christian nation?? because it isn’t). This is about freedom of information and freedom of expression… the Pakistani government doesn’t support either one. But to be fair there are multiple reasons for this, mainly because how the pakistani people respond to views that don’t mirror their own. If I was in the government I would do what I can to stop riots and violence as well.

But that is only a band-aid solution, the reason the violence occurred in the first place is because a good portion of the people of Pakistan are incapable of understanding the simple fact that not everyone is going to agree with their views. And they can’t understand this because they haven’t been exposed to other views their entire lives like people in the west have. We live in countries with thousands of religious and anti-religious groups… thousands of different ethnicities, cultures and sub-cultures. So it is easier for us to “live and let live” and to simply ignore things we might find insulting.

If you go on youtube or the internet as a whole your going to find many many many instances of people who disagree with you, and even go as far as insulting those viewpoints… that is the modern world we live in, and until the Pakistani populace can learn to deal with that then they have no place getting involved. I mean honestly why would you care what some idiot on a youtube video thinks about your religion? Does it even matter? No it doesn’t, but the person who made the video was well within his/her rights to create it and frankly the religious people need to just get over it.

We have a saying in the USA, “sticks and stones my break my bones but words will never hurt me”… those anti islam words may be insulting but they cant hurt you! However throwing riots over it, can hurt people. The reaction to these kinds of messages have been juvenile at best.

Don’t get me wrong… I think that it was childish of them to insult Islam in the first place, me and most people would never ever do such a thing… it is morally wrong. I support everyones freedom of religion. However I also support everyone’s freedom of expression… you cannot have one without the other.

With Due respect@tommariner why are u behaving like this? I have friends from US and rest part of words who are so loving as they respect our religion. Instead of this Look with our eyes Islam is the only religion in this world which says Respect Prophet Jesus Even it is said
“No Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus (pbuh)”
So a Prophet Who is Teaching Muslims To even Respect Prophet Jesus, So why we are fighting why we not come to common terms in you and us. We should reapect each other religion So, this world can be a better place where we all can live with Peace.

As they block the content they feel is detrimental to their citizens, they will not be able to restrain the urge to stop attacks on their ability to stay in power.
