I don't get it. The main limitation of the Atrix or any super smartphone is the screen size, not the input, (not that input isn't a limitation, but a distant second to screen size).

So other then neat factor, I don't really see the benefit of building in an expanding hardware keyboard to a 4" super smartphone display.

The Atrix is a great implementation because it takes into account actual use case. In mobile mode, you don't want to lug around the mass of a foldout keyboard. Softkeys or equivalent small hard keys would work.

If you need to sit down and do hardcore typing, then the Atrix laptop peripheral is perfect because you would presumably need a bigger display to be productive with whatever tasked merited a full sized keyboard in the first place.

4" screen with a full sized keyboard would be like expanding 7.1 surround speakers on a portable DVD player. On paper it seems cool, in actual use case, probably not so much.

This concept phone right here is almost to hard to believe, while I think having a phone that actually turns into a keyboard and display is nice, I can't see how it would still be thin or even fit in a pocket, the Atrix is the closest we're going to get to something like this for at least another year and a half.
