Yamaha neoHD Media Controllers promise simple AV control

, Jun 30th 2009 Discuss [0]

Hot on the heels of their Sonos-rivaling MediaCAST2 system, Yamaha have announced their neoHD Media Controllers.  Pulling together multiple AV components with a simple, HTPC-style “Watch/Listen/Play” UI, two models are on offer: the entry-level YMC-500, which includes remote IR control, and the YMC-700 which adds WiFi for networked content streaming, Rhapsody online music, internet radio and iTunes AAC support thanks to an included license for TwonkyMedia Server.

Both Media Controllers have three HDMI inputs, Dolby TrueHD support and offer control of up to six AV components.  Yamaha are also offering a full system, the neoHD System 2.1 YMC-S21, which includes the (non-WiFi) YMC-500, stereo speakers and an active subwoofer.

The Yamaha neoHD Media Controllers, the YMC-500 and YMC-700, are priced at $599.95 and $799.95 respectively; the neoHD System 2.1 YMC-S21 is priced at $799.95.  All three are available now.
