Yahoo Esports hub covers League of Legends and more

Yahoo has announced a new hub called 'Yahoo Esports,' and as its name suggests, it is dedicated to news and coverage of esports events from around the globe. The hub has tapped several people from the industry to contribute editorial and video content, including weekly videos covering things like League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone, Dota 2, and Heroes of the Storm.

Competitive gaming has been recognized as a legitimate sport for years now, with esports garnering an increasingly massive fan base. To help people stay up to date on the latest happenings, Yahoo's Esports hub will include news about events, player ranking and stats, interviews, expert commentary, and more. It will also include weekly videos from several industry experts focusing on the aforementioned games.

Said Yahoo Sports Media Vice President Bob Condor:

We're approaching our coverage of esports with the same tenacity and professionalism we always have with Yahoo Sports, News and Finance. Coupled with our experience in building great products, we've gone out and assembled an experienced and innovative content team that will cover esports from every angle.

The hub is available now, but will be focusing on several select games to start with: "League of Legends," "Dota 2," "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive," "Heroes of the Storm," and "Street Fighter V". Over time, Yahoo will add content for other games, as well. Team members include Andrea Rene, Travis Gafford, Taylor Cocke, and Dylan Walker.
