Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Crosses TENAA, fingerprint scanner missing

We know already that Chinese smartphones maker Xiaomi has a new device that will launch on July 16. Exactly what device will launch on that date we don't know, but a new smartphones has crossed TENAA that is a likely candidate for launch this week. A TENAA listing for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has been spied, and sadly, it is missing something that many expect new smartphones to feature.

That missing feature is a fingerprint scanner. There are rumors circulating that peg the launch of the Redmi Note 2 for Thursday, which is the 16th. We already know that the smartphone will come in two versions featuring an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 or a Snapdragon 615 chipset inside.

Whichever chip you choose both will have 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera, and a 5MP front camera. There will be a 16GB version or a 32GB version available to choose from. Power for either model will come from a 3020 mAh internal battery.

Previous leaks have shown a version of this smartphone with a fingerprint scanner on the back, but the version that crossed TENAA lacked that scanner. There is a chance that another difference between the two versions of this smartphone with the different chipsets is also the fingerprint scanner.
