Xiaomi phones pulled from US Mobile, as they're "not authorized" to sell them

Yesterday, we heard that Xiaomi phones would be making their way to the US market for the first time, albeit in a somewhat shady way. The devices quickly disappeared from the US Mobile site, but the question about how they came to be there in the first place still lingered. And was Xiaomi actually okay with them doing this?

Today, the Chinese manufacturer came out and specifically called out US Mobile regarding the sales of their devices. The company stated that "Recent reports have indicated that Xiaomi products will be available in the U.S. Xiaomi only offers a small selection of accessories for sale in the U.S. through Mi.com," and that "there are no plans to sell smartphones through any authorized distributors in the U.S. US Mobile is not authorized to sell Xiaomi products in the U.S."

What's more, US Mobile is coming under fire from T-Mobile, whose network they operate on. T-Mobile now plans to scrutinize any phones that US Mobile plans to sell, and put them through additional certification procedures.

It's possible that we may one day see Xiaomi phones on the market in the US, but don't expect to find them on the US Mobile site any time soon.
