Possibly, but finding equivalent hardware for the PC based on the XBox 360 or PS3 will be hard. That technology has been obsolete for a few years.

PC’s have to be more powerful than consoles, because PC’s have to use DIRECT X. Which obliterates a lot of your performance vs coding straight to the hardware. The processor they will put in the xbox isn’t terrible. It’s the best bang for the buck really. You try to put the tahiti line in there and you’ll have higher power consumption and heat generation and the thing will cost $1,000. It’s bad enough they have to license blue ray from sony.

You’re also forgetting though that PC’s have to use Direct X to support all the different hardware options. Often times giving you a 90% performance loss in some area’s vs coding straight to the hardware, which you can do on a Console. So you can probably get 3-4 times more geometry on the screen with console vs a PC with the same hardware because of Direct X.

Who cares about a “PC” being more powerful than a console!!! That is not what the article about!!!!! You would have to be a freaking idiot to even compare the two! Everyone knows a console is basically a mini computer and that the “PC” is the ultimate machine! Guess what?? I don’t give a shit!!! I love my consoles and I will keep playing on them for years to come and I can’t wait for my new xbox 720!!! Bring it baby!! :-)

lolll 6670 is just bordeline to play battlefied 3… when the xbox 360 comming out the series 8000 going out so the pc stay first … a great lost because the console block the developpement of the pc graphics and IA :(

This is true. The only reason I see getting a console is to get the console exclusive games. I got my PS3 only for the Uncharted and inFAMOUS series. Keep in mind though, Battlefield 3. On the PC, matches could be played with 64 people. On the console, you can only play with….what, 14? 16? Someone will have to correct me here im not too sure. THeres a game that looks gorgeous and plays beautifully on the PC but not on consoles because console hardware is crap and is limiting the Frostbite 2 engine, which is also DX11 optimized pretty damn well, compared to Metro 2033(IN fairness it was one of, if not the first full Dx11 game)

Um…not exactly. the Xbox”720″ in 2013 with a 6670 will be wayyyyyyyyyyy behind PCs. AMD and Nvidia both have their new series out this year. And late next year? I wouldnt be surprised if another series came out. And by the way, playing games on the PC doesnt require 8 or 6 gigs of RAM. Hell, games dont even use 4gigs, just helps if you were to have a lot of shit running in the background. Yes, the OS requires a couple gigs of RAM but if you build a computer youre obviously going to get a minimum of 4 gigs. Kind of irrelevant. PC > Consoles? Yep

Actually, for the most part, thats the whole Idea of a new console. To play bigger and better games. Bigger and better games come with new engines. Those new engines are designed but not limited to, giving the user a better graphical experience. Also, dont forget about Ambient Occlusion, Filtering and of course the level of Tesselation.
Sure, consoles will look and seem amazing to people who only play on consoles but to us PC gamers, we’ll just keep moving along, being one to two generations ahead of them(At the time of release. Then be at least 5 ahead til the next console).

Manufacturing time/costs. Usually the highest end card of the lastest series costs between 500-600. That actually can not be used because of costs. The whole console will cost that much.

It will probably be a modified 6670.
Also as many have mentioned, consoles are utilized to take advantage of hardware better than PC’s regarding gaming, that plus the fact 1080p is the maximum resolution it has to support means the gpu will have more time in pushing polygons, textures etc, so the graphics are hardly going to look too dated, especially in the eyes of console gamers which is the intended audience.
I’ll probably get this as I’m really interested in Kinect and am skipping the 360 until the Kinect technology has matured.

That was this gen, typically PC’s lead the way graphically and consoles get the watered down version. If consoles don’t max out their specs at launch they are going to be left in the dust by PC’s really early in their live cycles. You will see this with the Wii U. The new xbox and ps4 will run new unreal engine but the Wii U will probably struggle.

I think this article is complete and utter b/s. The next Xbox will feature a much better GPU than what this article claims. I suspect if the device launches at the end of next year, It will feature the best of what this year had to offer GPU wise, similar to when the Xbox 360 launched.

A console running a 6670 vs a PC running the same hardware would still be significantly faster. The games and xbox OS are designed only for the hardware put in them and utilize the resources much more efficiently. Plus, with PC’s it doesn’t matter because ALLLL games are designed for the xbox first, then ported over to PC’s which then only typically give you higher res, maybe better shadows, and a bit more anti aliasing. Big deal.

Consoles are not PCs. They are inferior pieces of hardware. If Windows is taking up half your resources, you are doing something wrong. And even half of a PC is better than what a console has to offer. The 6670 GPU is already three years old. It’s just more proof that idiots will buy anything.
