That is a weak and ill-informed rebuttal. I gave impartial statistics, you gave a blanket-statement with no basis other than your own obvious bias.

I’ve owned both systems and I liked them both. My PS3 always got more use, primarily because I like the controllers more, which is just personal preference. And I also use it a great deal as my Blu-Ray player.

Despite my PS3 getting about three to four times as much use, I had two Xbox’s fail, so I gave up on that system. And even though it’s now my only console, I still have my original PS3 and it is still going strong.

I’ve got one XBox for the kids which I bought 3 or so years ago – it gets heavy use and another 360, 250GB for myself which gets moderate use. I’ve never had an issue on either – though it seems like every other time I turn it on there is some sort of update to download. I love the machines. I’ve got a PS3 but have never had a problem with it either. Knock on wood.

The failure rate is a percentage, not a total number. If anything a greater number of systems out is an advantage because it would take more faulty systems to raise the percentage. The fact that xbox has more consoles out and has a 54% failure rate is pathetic.

I have only been through 2 consoles so far. I still have my original Xbox 360 Core (the very basic Xbox) that I purchased at launch and only ran into the RRod once which i fixed myself and I have the newest Xbox 360 Slim and haven’t run into any problems with it. Note: I install all the games I play on my hard drive.

Virtually every Sony product I have purchased in the last decade has died just out of warranty. Anybody but Sony, please. And worse, when Akio Morita was CEO (it’s been a while), he was off mic but caught saying in Japanese that the Americans were essentially stupid marks that he could make a quick buck off. Total disrespect for the customer. Remember the Sony spyware installed on music CDs so they could try to prevent people from copying the disks? That resulted in a security flaw in the Windows operating system, and as we now know, it was a trojan, undisclosed, that installed on any PC that tried to even play the CD.

No thanks. No Sony for me.

microsoft its happy with the high failure rate.
if not for this, they will likely be at a far and away 3rd like last generation.
many who had xbox 360 games and a live gold, chose to pay for a new one that waste all games and subscription.
am intrigued how many get enough and will pas the next generation xbox.
at the very least the hard fans that will get it anyway will wait for months to not get another rod ligths fiasco.

Am I still playing it? Where did I state in my post that I still play xbox 360? I still own two consoles. The first one did RROD, first and second banned, second one is under my TV, and the third one is still spare. Actually there’s 4 I still have one factory sealed that I can pawn on ebay when it becomes old to a collector.

Do I play xbox360? no. I stopped playing quite a while ago. Probably more than a year.

I’ve gone through 4 XBoxes, the first one was dead right out of the box. I also have a 60GB PS3 that’s gone YLOD twice (that version is the most prone to it). The worst part is that your HDD is wiped when it comes back after repair, since Sony made it integral to the console.
