Loading ...Perhaps I’m a naive slab of non-gaming gristle, but this Xbox 360 Halo 3 Special Edition just looks like an unpleasantly bile-like slab of console. Still, I’m sure there are people out there happy to spend $399 on dubiously detailed Microsoft hardware; what’s surprising is that, according to Unboxing.com, it doesn’t actually seem to come with a copy of the game itself.
At least, Halo 3 isn’t mentioned in the run down of what you get in the box. We can only assume either an oversight or stupidity from Microsoft. Anyway, you’ll be playing with yourself (so to speak) with just one wireless controller, one (wired) headset, the 20GB hard-drive (which seems a bit stingy) and - wonder of wonders - an HDMI cable.
Is anyone out there planning on buying one? Let us know in the comments.

I really like the color, and would buy a controller of that color if they were available. I already own a 360 though so i wouldn’t purchase the special edition console. I am even considering looking on e-bay for the controlloer of that color, to see how much they run, and if anyone is willing to part with the controller that matches the system color.
Yea, I bought one and I love it.
I think it’s a bargain because not only is it the coolest looking 360 but it comes with a HDMI port and is a $100 cheaper than the elite.
I don’t purchase alot of movies via XBox Live so I don’t need the extra hard drive space the elite offers.
And remember to sell it on eBay just before they release the next XBox console and I guarantee you will get every penny back…that’s what I did with the clear green halo xbox just before the 360 was released :)
I got a look at one of these today and i have to say that the pics i’ve seen on the net don’t do it justice, it looks much better in the flesh.
I was planning to get a premium next week having just saved enough for the 360 + Halo 3 but i might have to try and scrape a little extra cash together for this one, guess the charger and HDMI lead make it justifiable otherwise i’d have just looked out for a decent face plate and stuck with a premium.
What is a Halo edition console without an actual copy of Halo? They must be out of their minds to think they can sucker the greens out of my wallet by painting it green. No HDMI cable, one controller and no game for $50 more for what? some green paint?
I absolutely, positively will not buy this crap unless they bundle in the Halo game and possible another controller.

I always dislike Sony with their proprietary, expensive and mediocre products. But if MS keeps up with this crap. I am getting a PS3.
Buck for buck, PS3 is absolutely the better hardware, again proprietary, but looks nicer. Xbox is buck ugly, noisy, unreliable and not really that cheap if you count what you are really getting. I endure it because it has good games. It is just wrong and deceitful to sell consumers craps like this. We all know there are full of foolish kids out there with packet full of cash, high on adrenaline and low on IQ.
Wow…this looks like a piece of junk lol. Microsoft needs to hire some Japanese Limited Edition Design Specialists!! Seriously, it’s ugly. But then again, Halo Fans would love it. Tastes vary….too much lol.

Why not bundle Halo 1 & 2 with this?

True, but it would’ve made sense to include a gift certificate for a copy of Halo 3 on release for people who buy it prior to the launch date.
That is a totally BS excuse! A gift certificate would be a nice gesture like Crhis has mentioned. You are welcome to waste your money on such a rotten deal. Money is one issue, but being treated like a fool is another. Not me.

It is just like buying a Coach special edition Lexus with genuine vinyl seats and nice embossed Coach logos. Now that is a special edition for you.
the green casing looks really cheap. Like some kind of spray paint job.
Good luck on finding a matching controller for your friends, no where to be found on normal merchandising channels. Irritating!
if you take the controller and resell it on ebay thats roughly 100 dollars in your pocket which means you pretty much get a premium for 300 dollars if you buy a corded controller and a halo 3 then there you go
Well concidering how much of a Halo fan/Wiz kid I am, I’m deffinetly going to get one… the main reason being that my other 360 got RRD, and my insurance(or whatever it is) has expired, so tonight I’m going 2 get one, and I will be very pleased to have the hole Halo collection.
Yes I already have Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2 Special Edition, the Halo 2 Limited Edition Xbox, Halo 3 Ledgendary, and by tonight I’ll have the Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox 360… Yeah like I said I’m a Halo fanitic and I’m proud of it.

I got the Halo edition and ALSO got a FREE red ring of death within a week! Woohoo!
Whatever, I exchanged it already and we’ll see how long it lasts now. It definitely does NOT have any improvements over premium aside from paint and HDMI. All that is moot though because new premiums come with HDMI also for $50 less. Wuah wuahhh.
I plan to sell this when the 65nm is released.
Oh yeah, all that said above, I am also a HALO FANATIC! Master Chief is my freaking hero. Microsoft, on the other hand, heh… Well, you get the idea.
It doesn’t look as cheap in person and the bronze on the disc and hard drive is nice too. It was cool enough for me because I love army green and am a Halo player and did not have a console yet so I figured why not, might as well get the green one, looks cool to me and works just fine. Although it is cheap not to include the wireless green headset and two controllers and the game. They should’ve bundled the game and console for an early release so the only people getting halo 3 were the ones buying the green console bundle then release the game for everyone else. Microsoft is a rip off in the end no matter how you slice it.
This is so stupid,I can’t believe that Microsoft cheat people into buying this just because it has Halo 3 written all over it with a lousy paint job(I bet Microsoft used some of their old stocks and repainted them and simply put on some Halo 3 and UNSC symbols here and there)!!!It’s kind of ridiculous to buy this because you are only given 1 console,how are you going to have fun if your friend’s can’t play?!There is no point to invite friends over to your house if you only have 1 console,if you do invite them,it’s going to be boring because we will have to take turns to play,tell me then,will it be fun if we had to take turns?Well,only crazy Halo fans/people with too much cash and need to find a ways to waste it/foolish people will buy this,because it only has very little features in it,not worth buying at all….
I have had this xbox for a few months and its great! i would suggest buying the wireless halo 3 ear piece as well. I love the green and the green controller!
