The price has been one of the major disappointments of the original iPhone. However, there can be no complaints with the new 3G version. You’ll be able to grab one for as little as $199.
The 8GB iPhone 3G will run $199, while the 16GB version will run $299. You’ll be able to snag one of these in both black and white. Now your iPhone can match your older iMacs and the like.
Don’t go rushing out to your Apple stores just yet, this bad ass phone won’t be available until July 11th.

I feel sorry for all those Apple/ iPhone Enthusiasts out there trying to keep up with the bleeding edge of technology by buying this product on the first few days of it’s first initial launch. I won’t blame anyone cuz if I had the money, I would’ve bought it on the first day myself if I had the chance. The hard truth is that “patience” is the golden key in technological advancements.

I think most bleeding-edge enthusiasts accept the fact that they’re paying a premium for being the first with the latest tech. If anything, while they might save money by waiting a couple of months, the allure goes down too as more people will have the same toy.
I agree with you Andrew that, if you want a good deal, patience is important. But at the same time you could feasibly wait forever, hoping for “the best” update or upgrade, and never actually buy anything. Quite a few people I know bought an original iPhone, and they’ve got masses of enjoyment and use out of it; the concensus seems to be that they’re glad they spent the money, even if there’s a new model on the scene.
