Wurm MMORPG provider offers bounty for DDoSer's conviction

Wurm Online is an MMORPG that was recently brought to its knees by a DDoS attack after an update, causing it to go offline. The provider has posted several updates on its website and forums, and though optimistic claims had it pegged for being back online today, that didn't pan out. As a result of it all, Wurm is seeking justice.

Yesterday, Wurm updated to version 1.2, and shortly after was hit with a DDoS attack that ended up getting it pulled off the grid. While Wurm's hosting provider worked at the matter, the company said it was "planning on changing hosting anyways which should improve things for the future." It shan't let the attackers off easy if at all possible, however.

The game provider also posted on its website that "We can offer 10 000 Euro for any tips or evidence leading to a conviction of the person responsible for this attack." That works out to a touch over $13,000 USD for those in the US. Whether such a bounty will work in the company's favor is yet to be seen, but it is an interesting approach to the matter, regardless.

After issuing the bounty, Wurm told its players to expect things to be down until at least noon Central time today, something that has unfortunately been met with another update bumping that timeframe until sometime tomorrow at the earliest. Said the company's public relations officer, "It is in the hands of the new Host now ... Wurm shall rise again!"
