Windows Phone TileArt: customization at last

This week the folks at Microsoft behind their own collection of Windows Phone apps have released a piece of software called "#TileArt". This app allows Windows Phone 8.1 users to customize their lock screen, create their own custom tile layout for their home screen, and share home screens with friends through various social networks. Similar features have been available for a while in limited form – now creativity is a bit more unleashed. Now if only we were able to do the same thing with Xbox One, that'd be fabulous.

This app allows the user to upload transparent PNG files and graft them over their already activated color schemes in Windows Phone. See the image of Halo's Master Chief here? Notice how it's on two separate background images?

You'll be able to access a #TileArt Gallery once the app is downloaded to your Windows Phone smartphone so you'll be able to see the possibilities for yourself. Once your options are made clear, you can upload your own images at will.

This app is available to all Windows Phone 8.1 device as of this morning. You can check out #TileArt in the Windows Phone app market right this minute – just look for the blue icon with the white phone in the center.
