Keep the OEM’s fingers out. The device should belong to the user, not the carrier.

But allow the user to customize it. Don’t be another Apple that forces everyone to “think different” exactly the same as everybody else.

Some people say user customization will be tacky. Sure, sometimes it will. But who cares what other people’s phones look like? Your phone will not be tacky, by whatever standards you apply.

I hope Microsoft keeps it’s Metro UI start page but allow OEMs to add a new custom screen of their Own that way us Metro UI lovers can have our metro UI with a few changes and Oems can make a custom screen with God knows whatever they want on it

Even if they did open it up. How much customization could really be done with a grid of tiles? Are some OEM’s going to make a grid of rectangles? lol. Or maybe some circles.

I don’t even know why Microsoft could be considering this. They just have to see what happens with most of the Android phones that OEM’s put their “awesome” interface an tweaks, they lag in performance, stability and updates, this is why most android users prefer the Nexus Phones. I want my next phone to be a WP (Lumia 900) but if they allow this I will think twice before getting a WP.

Where are you getting this from? This is just wild speculation and it’s a little upsetting. But I really hope they don’t do this. One of the reason why I love Windows Phone so much is because they don’t have all of these silly customized skins. It’s beautiful and consistant throughout all devices at the moment. If it starts turning into android that would be a complete disaster!
