I have a Lumia 920 and am not seeing the same Settings->Messaging screen that you show (I don’t see SMS/MMS delivery confirmations or MMS acks). ???

the only problem of MS is that.. majority of the apps are for android even the app portal of my school is android , which drives people to be attracted to android.

I’m 16 yrs old and I tell u, ALL of my friends uses their smartphones just for social media, i’m one of them, and for apps, once my friends discover the WP8, they will love it, but the only problem is the lack of apps, thats it. :)

Yeah, google tracks a LOT of what the users do. Too much, but that info is what gives google the awesome services that it has. Google owns LOTS of information. I do without android, but one thing I give Google credit for is services.

I use every OS I can get my hands on. I hack, I write software for OSX, Windows and Linux. I’ve used iOS and Android and I can say the ONLY thing that stops WP8 being so much better than the rest that it’s almost silly, is the shortage of apps. It’s a virtuous circle: once a few more devs see some progress then more apps will come. The relaese of W8 and the common development base will help.

MSFT should be targeting young people and mom’s for this phone. Once they get them hooked (and have more apps), watch out Android. I think Apple will be safe b/c of the grandparents. However, once MS catches up in the Apps war, Android will be relegated to enthusiasts, which is alright to me. I know Google realizes this could potentially happen.

It’s a Catch-22 when it comes to the ecosystem. Developers want to make money and to do that people need to buy their apps and to do that the devices need to sell. But for devices to sell, developers have to make apps. It is going to take a gamble by developers on this new OS for the ecosystem to really gain any traction. Thankfully, it appears that Microsoft is doing whatever it can to attract the big developer studios which probably has something to do with the coding languages that can be used.

Believe me, I’m not against windows phones and tablets. The more choice, the merrier. Their previous iterations weren’t any good. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction. I wish them well with their surface tablets, although I think they shot themselves in the foot with the RT. Its just another tablet with poor screen. I want them to do well, but they just seem to do too little too late. If they want to succeed in the market, all they have to do is have the best hardware bar none (not average or short in some areas, just best period) and sell it dirt cheap, cost price or less. Subsidize it even. Get your product in as many hands as you can, get known for having the best. But they don’t do that. They don’t advertise properly (still haven’t seen one ad yet), the hardware let’s them down in certain areas. Maybe they think they are apple and they think if they make it look flash, then they can sell it at a premium price. They haven’t enough loyal customers to go down that path. Like I said, I hope they do well, but from where I am sitting, they are their own worst enemies.

Young people are the main market. And tight integration is the key, not just “there”, the experience has to be better. I’m actually tired of Android when it comes to that. Their Facebook app is just too sluggish. Having people hub is way more convenient than going to different apps and loading each of them every time. As long as MS makes people hub work well, it will be great for social media addicts. It can draw them in.

Your logic is flawed. Market share does not determine if a product is good or not. It is an indicator but it’s not a determinant. Obviously you don’t know what you’re talking about. If we follow your logic then Mac OSX isn’t good either, considering its market share compared to XP, Vista and 7. Let me enlighten you.

MS did not have a proper windows phones and tablets out. They had some but definitely not for years. WinMo was stupid. Windows 7 tablets were stupid. What phones and tablets are you talking about? Their proper mobile OS which is Windows Phone isn’t even 2 years old. And their proper tablet OS just came out a few days ago so you can’t judge that yet.

Do you know why they have little market share on the phone and tablet space? It’s because they came TOO LATE. WP is actually a VERY GOOD OS. Lots of features. Very tight social media. Very fluid UI. But…. they came too late. iOS and Android are already flourishing. Aside from social media, people want apps. And WP was lacking that. Not entirely their fault, and it’s also the reason why they have a lot built-in (FB and twitter). But they can’t make every app in-house. It’s very hard to penetrate the mobile space right now. A lot of people are already contented with iOS and Android, and no matter how snappy and pretty the OS is, the first thing people ask are “is there *insert app here* on that”? Not to mention the UI shift. It might intuitive. It might be fluid. But some people just want the familiar icons and widgets.

Young people use social media on their phones, that’s ok if they want to do it. Its on every phone anyway, so, being on windows phones is nothing special. If MS knew what the customer wanted, then windows tablets and phones would have huge share market, but they don’t. If you haven’t realized, there have been windows phones and tablets out for years. If they were any good, they would be snapped up. Obviously they were no good

You say social media is hyped up crap and you seem to think you know better than MS when it comes to what people want?? Give me a break. That in itself makes you a troll. MOST people use their phones for social media, to the point they don’t even use their computers anymore. Better integration = better phone. That’s what people want. Obviously you’re not one of them. And obviously you’re not significant for MS. So stop saying they should give up. It’s not that you don’t see anything, you just know nothing.

This has better integration to social media compared to the 2 and that’s what a lot of people want. Android’s social media integration is atrocious. And WP8 is a hell lot of faster than any Android phone out. The only thing this needs is instagram and some popular games. Yeah, they know what the people want. You should stop fanboying against MS now.

Its largely what I expected. Nothing there that would make me trade in my galaxy note for this. In fact, I could list reasons why I am going to stay with Android and not this. Apart from Ms fans, I see nothing that would sway your average from swapping their iPhone or Android for this. Sorry MS, but I think you are still going to be in the “other” listing when it comes down to sales for the next couple of years. No, just give it up, keep away from phones and tablets. You don’t seem to have any idea about what the masses want. Stick to computer programs.
