You should check on the Ubuntu forums and post on there, and I'll respond, or you can tweet to me on Twitter, I'm @MistaC87 on there as well. Your drive isn't permanently damaged, you just need it partitioned and formatted properly, and I've been doing this for years so I'm quite experienced :)

I wiped the first ntfs partition but ubuntu damaged it on the process of formatting it to the EXT.. From that experience alone, I never bothered with other file system..

Don't automatically assume that I'm dumping Windows because of NTFS. And converting from NTFS to EXT!? It is no wonder you "damaged" your hard drive (all you need is to completely wipe it with a hard disk utility you can boot from a USB key like Ultimate Boot CD to fix this). You should NEVER convert NTFS to EXT for the sole purpose of trying Linux, for you need to repartition your hard drive and give it a dedicated area on the hard drive to install on.

You're dumping windows just because of NTFS?? For me, that is not part of my concern.. I haven't have any problems with NTFS since my last try to convert NTFS to EXT to try ubuntu, sadly, it damaged my Hard Disk, which made me stick to NTFS and not to bother with other file system.. For Heaven's sake, the SD card on my android is still formatted FAT32!! And I have no problem with that.. Windows 8 will still be great on NTFS..

In my personal opinion, Windows is becoming an out-dated operating system. The NTFS file-system that will be included in Windows 8 has been around since Windows NT 3.1 is still being deployed in consumer versions of Windows 8 from what I understand, and there are still so many problems with NTFS technically, in particular poor protection against file corruption. Now we have file-systems such as HFS+ (Mac Os X) and Ext4 (Linux) that work just great.

I hate to say it, but if Windows does not get a complete rework on everything from the ground up, then Windows might lose even more market share. Adding sleek features like Metro will distract users from the technical cons of the system I'm sure, however; the idea of creating a great OS is not just about adding sleek visual features, it is about creating a technically excellent system from the ground up (which is why I have been using UNIX systems on the side for years and years).

As well, if Microsoft is going to rush Windows 8 to summer when it clearly isn't even close to done, then Microsoft might have another Windows Vista (and more angry customers) on their hands.
