I think classic view will be good at office where almost all work performed on will be done much faster using classic view

I have using the free windows 8 developer preview OS with a mouse and keyboard the hard way for nearly a week now and all I have to say is this Windows 8 OS is nice even in this non bêta form. I switch from metro to the old desktop seamlessly to do things I love the live tiles of the metro interface it is fascinating to see the live tiles update their data right in front of you
that is what makes metro a nice interface this is good stuff Microsoft you have a winner here. I will buy touch screen soon to test it’s touch abilities. everybody who has a touch screen says it works very well
I will find out for myself.

Do you really expect a tablet/slate with more functionality than an iPad to come in a couple hundred dollars below the iPad? That’s rather unrealistic.

There is no point to offering a desktop view on tablets. It should be default locked off on tablets by default like Windows Phone 7. There should be no need to organize photos or files manually anymore, just put them where the necessary programs can find them and you can sort and search them there. They should allow gradual transitioning for legacy apps as well. For instance, I should be able to launch Left 4 Dead or World or Warcraft from the Metro UI and never have to see the desktop. I don’t know how it works now, but I guess that would be mainly up to Valve or Blizzard to update their respective launcher/apps properly. Even Photoshop has a fullscreen mode that could default to on tablets in a minor update if Microsoft could just implement it. Plug in a keyboard and mouse and it could still just be optional if you have tinkering to do, perhaps programming if fooling around with files and folders are needed ever again. The “everything-made-sense” approach to Mac OS X is what made me prefer it (not OS 9) over Windows. Integrating iTunes, iPhoto-like, photo browsing, etc are strokes of genius, mobile devices have showed us a better way for most people to handle files and applications, let’s stick with that and end our experience with the UNNECESSARY clutter.

We will need to wait for the appropriate Intel hardware and see how the final W8 performs on a tablet that comes at an attractive price and an attractive weight.

I’ve got an iPad 2 but I am missing apps that never will make it on the iPad.
If an x86 tablet runs all of my software and can compete with an Apple iPad I’ll consider to get one.
Guess I will have to wait for another 2 years …

I do not want any ARM hardware with Windows, never ever.
If I go for Windows 8 on a tablet or UltraBook it’ll have to be an x86 machine.

This is the first tablet that has actually had me interested. A tablet that can actually do reasonable amounts of productivity running a full-fledged OS efficiently and smoothly. I’m a big Android fan but never bought into the tablets, neither Android nor iOS.
Btw, does anyone else think Win 8 looks miles ahead of what OSX Lion has to offer?

At the very least I’m fairly certain most WP7 app devs will rewrite their code (or add the code lines) necessary to port them to the Win8 Store.

If they do as good a job gathering developers as they did for Windows Phone 7, they have nothing to fear. In less than 8 months, WP7 already surpassed RIM’s marketplace in app count, with marketshare not much higher than WebOS.

If that success in wooing developers can translate to Windows 8′s Metro apps, they’re in for a huge success.

really cool I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 H D TV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail priices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ H D TV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for.

Can’t wait till the transformer 2 with windows8 and Kal-el comes in and wipes the floor with the competition. People want all-in-one. Now if only they could come up with a way to fold it down to a hand set size and make it truly everything in one package.
