What is even more interesting is that although it launched almost a month before the Wii, it has sold barely a third of the units that Nintendo has been able to move. I really don’t think that it’s any fault of Sony, or that the PS3 isn’t a great machine, but rather that the Japanese market is in love with the Wii.

Sony seems to be holding steady in second place in the Japanese market, but I doubt that they will catch up to Nintendo any time soon. Last month the Wii outsold the PS3 6-to-1 with around 270,000 versus Sony’s 42,000. The Xbox 360 barely even registered on the charts with 17,000.
