With the news that the Wii sold out completely on its first day of UK release, all those unlucky enough to be stuck at the back of the queue can only wait for restocking and bide their time looking at entertaining hacks like this one. Yes, friends and sorcerers, this is a Wii Power Glove, a 21st Century update of the coveted 1989 peripheral. Enterprising Japanese hackers custom made this fashionable open-fingertip glove with built in Wii controller and finger triggers; make sure you check out the video of it in action, after the cut:
There’s a port at the rear of the glove for you to plug the numchuck in, the battery compartment is accessed on the underside, and the A and B buttons are controlled by pressing the thumb and middle-fingers together. They’re treating this as a prototype, and already have plans for the next version – including different, more flexible materials for the glove, and relocating the Bluetooth chip.
I’m not sure if the cat in the video is also being controlled via the glove.

very nice. I knew someone was going to do this with the wii, congrats on being the first (as far as i know) Let’s hope more people will take a crack at a wii powerglove and try to improve it.

blah, this is clearly a mod from the original power glove.
PAX produced it in Japan while Mattel provided the US version. Seems they’ve rigged a pair of buttons to a couple of the fingers, prob. plugged via Wii-mote port. They should have rigged the internal switches instead.
I owned this beast for the NES when I was a kid, and about the only game worthy of play with it was Rad Racer. The sensor for it contained 3 big black boxes connected via pvc piping, and it was clunky as part of it hung down the side of the TV.
Another reason I wanted it is after seeing it in action on a movie called “The Wizard”. In this movie these kids end up going to some game tournament and it looked like it was the “must have” controller to really give you an edge. The movie also featured never before seen images of the upcoming Super Mario 3 as well, basically historic Nintendo propaganda now.

I like it but there is only one problem when or eavn if it comes out in shops the price will be sky high! I think this product will come to about oo 100-200! that is more than the wii itself! (I am not a pro but when it comes to guessing prices I am usuly about right)

Wii Power Glove is giving me the best feeling i ever had. I wonder what other wii ware will be coming out. I suggest the wii Helmet so players can see 3D object heading This way! But so far The wii Glove is awsome.

Way to COMPLETELY miss the point.
For a lot of people, the appeal of the powerglove has always been that it was a spectacular failure, hence its funny and has a certain niche retro sense to it. No-one is suggesting the powerglove was ever a good idea. It wasn’t, but it sure as hell is good for a laugh, even if that laugh is only laughing at how insanely useless it was to play games with. Its like playing soul calibur without looking at the screen. It fails on its own, but throw friends who all try it into the equation, and its funny as get out.

eh… I like the idea and its nice but its not very conventional. Also for me if im playing something that requires high precision I like to hold my Wii remote at my hip to point also its a nice resting place! =)
