Around the holidays the main problem with the Wii was trying to get hold of one, but some people are more concerned with when (or if) Nintendo will rock out some new colours. Now I’ve personally never seen the point in multiple hues of hardware - after all, most of the time you’ll be staring at the screen, not the happily humming Nintendo console beneath it - but those who do find a rainbow of Wii tickles their fancy have been frothed into glee by a Target receipt. Apparently the cataloguing system has been changed: previously it simply stated “Wii Console” and now it’s saying “Wii White”.

The question - which is a fair one - is why have they updated the system when, unless a manufacturer is about to release a whole bevy of different colour options, the console itself is no different. Of course, the assumption is that some of the different Wii models Nintendo occasionally shows at demos are going to finally reach the hands of happy buyers.

Most, though, would be pleased by a larger number of the consoles on the shelves, together with official accessories. It’s not known what effect new colour options would have - if anything - on the ongoing shortage.

I sent my Wii to Nintendo for repair and it lists as a NINTENDO WII- White. I think that is a good sign they will be having colors in the future.
