WiFi-only HTC Flyer up for pre-order

The WiFi-only version of the HTC Flyer has shown up for pre-order in Germany, with retailer Cyberport listing the 7-inch slate for €499 ($686). Your money gets you the same 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen with active stylus, Android 2.4 Gingerbread with customized Sense, and 5-megapixel camera, but omits the integrated 3G/HSPA connection (and the need for a carrier agreement).

Instead, you'll need to use either WiFi b/g/n or Bluetooth 3.0 to get online, with a wireless hotspot or tethering to a nearby phone. There's also a 1.3-megapixel front facing webcam, 32GB of internal storage and a 4,000 mAh battery.

There's no estimated delivery date, but HTC did tell us that it expected to launch the WiFi-only Flyer very soon after the release of the 3G model. That's set to take place in early Q2 2011. As for pricing, it looks like going WiFi-only will shave €200 off the price of the Flyer. More on the Flyer in the video demo below:
