I have been reading slashgear articles for a year now and everytime i see something about nintendo, it has always been negative. Compare that to an article about an apple product - always positive. Too much bias for my taste.
Anyways, i had my doubts about nintendo's new console. I have always enjoyed there consoles and that including the wii which had many flaws, but the wii u seemed gimicky and not worth my time. However, after pushing past the negativity and going ahead with the purchase, i must say, i do not regret it one bit. My family and I had a complete blast with the new console these past 2 days! Let me say this, the three things i like most about the system 1. Being able to use the system on the gamepad alone, without needing the TV. 2. The asymmetric gameplay. 3. The integrated use of miiverse in the games - being able to post comments at will and view other people;s comments on the same content. When nintendo says they are revolutionizing the industry, it has nothing to do with graphics (and the graphics are great), it has to do with features and the gaming experience, which i must say, is superb. I'll take the above over yet more graphics any day.

"Call me old-fashioned, but I like the idea of sitting back and doing nothing when I’m in my living room."
You can always sit back and not touch the gamepad while you're watching a show. It's not like someone is forcing you to touch the remote 100% of the time.

These comments are funny! What the author - Don Reisinger - expressed is a valid opinion . . . Because he works in tech, and may have to spend hours online on a desktop device, it might be a welcome break to experience tv the classic way, and flip to other channels during commercial.

So when someone already has over a thousand dollars worth of apple products within arms reach and are to lazy to use them, a Wii U doesn't seem necessary.

"Call me old-fashioned, but I like the idea of sitting back and doing nothing when I’m in my living room."

Maybe you aren't the best person to be talking about living room INTERACTIVE devices apple or otherwise.

It's just a remote with a GUI, I don't know what's to like or dislike about it, they certainly need to improve the software functionality for sure, but it's just a remote with GUI and some information so I don't know why you'd spend the time looking at it unless you really want to. Nobody's is forcing you to look at the game pad while you are watching something other than yourself, you weirdo.

This is Don Reisinger, the well known Nintendo hater. Curious that this is one of the first articles that you post on the Wii U. Certainly you would have written one earlier, if you found something to pick on!
